Zedekiah Schild

Son of Portland, Oregon based artist, Pamela Y. Gonsalves, Zedekiah’s primary mediums are painting and printing. Embracing informality of line and direct simplicity, the accidental gesture is ever-present in his work. Often described as “naivist” and “primitivist”,  Schild's paintings are characterized by symbols and methods hewn from personal experience, and the pursuit of an instinctual process.

My intent is to display newly created work. New directions in my work are rooted in exploration of my own disability which can be seen in paintings such as "Rolling With Mr. Gerald" and "Walking Apparatus". In 2018 I suffered a spinal fracture which has redefined my relationship with my body and the world, this redefinition and discovery has been the focus of my recent work.
