Clint Imboden

Discarded and forgotten items inspire my assemblages. Blemishes are embraced as visual attributes connecting each object to a previous life--adding another layer to my artwork.

The repurposed items in my sculptures and interactive installations are manipulated to subtlety address various social issues. Viewing my artwork is not meant to be a passive experience; it involves active reading and deciphering to fully understand. I use materials that challenge viewers to consider multiple references in order to understand the full meaning of a piece; to think beyond the object’s physical confines and ask: What are the associative qualities of these objects referring to?
