Mary Lee Butier
Mary Lee Butier received her BA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her formal training began at the age of 9 and covers a broad spectrum of techniques resulting in works that utilize recycled wood, canvas, fabric, paper and paint. Mary’s mixed media collages are influenced by her extensive travels through Brazil, the Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands. They provide a bridge between old world traditions with a nod to modern day representations of our natural environment. Her objective is to provide the observer with an opportunity to reflect on the delicate balance of maintaining nature’s beauty with our seemingly unquenchable desire to modernize daily life.
