Oleg Lobykin presents works from his Void and Flex series of conceptual sculptures. The Void series explores the origins of form, reimagining the emergence of something from nothing. Working with the interactions between positive and negative space, Lobykin draws the viewer’s attention to what is there and also to what is not there. Firebird, Diversity, and Sea Foam present abstract organic shapes that evoke a “cellular soup” of simple forms combining to create complex “organisms”. The Flex series reflects the artist’s fascination with the mystery of transformation. Flex Cube, Cutting Edge, and The Game suggest movement and shift perspective between two and three-dimensional reality. Perception is personal, but change is universal and inevitable.
