stARTup’s mission is to champion under-recognized artists, and to empower them in their careers. This includes working with artist collectives and non-profits who sustain diverse communities of working and emerging artists.

The Lost Angels Children’s Project is a southern California-based non-profit organization whose sole mission is to provide low-income, foster, and high-risk youth with safe, educational after school programs. Strengths like critical thinking, teamwork, and responsibility are learned via specialized mentoring programs that are based on a stimulating industrial arts curriculum, such as vocational training courses in classic car restoration, metal furniture fabrication, and metal art making.

The Lost Angels are committed to empowering youth by helping students develop the skill sets necessary to become positive participants in their communities and prepare for a successful future.

In the the West Courtyard of The Kinney of Venice Beach will be the Lost Angels GOOD+LIFE Lounge, featuring industrial raw wood and metal furniture made at the Lost Angeles shop by students.

The Lost Angels GOOD+LIFE Lounge is the culmination of work by the students at the Lost Angels Children’s Project Industrial Arts Youth Center. The vision behind GOOD+LIFE Manufacturing is all about DREAMING BIG and teaching students to push themselves to reach their full potential.

As the industrial arts have been increasingly vanishing from California public school systems, GOOD+LIFE MFG. has stepped up to teach Lost Angels students the value of these trades such as welding, metal shaping, and woodworking, in furniture design/fabrication applications. The GOOD+LIFE branch of LACP opened in 2018 with the mission of creating gainful employment for eligible students while also providing another creative outlet.

These pieces all showcase the Lost Angel’s unique after-school programs. We can’t wait to see how the lounge turns out next week!
