Ray Beldner, Founder/Director
Ray has worked in art education and marketing for the last 20 years with the goal of inspiring people to create, value, and support the visual arts. As an artist, he has exhibited in more than 15 solo shows and over 100 group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, and his artwork can be found in numerous public and private collections including the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and the Federal Reserve Board, Washington DC; the Saks Fifth Ave Collection, New York; and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, among many others. At several Bay Area colleges and universities, he taught courses in sculpture and installation art, conceptual art, and professional practices for artists. Ray is also a fine art appraiser and art collection manager and advisor.

Shannon Kaye, Business Development Director
A natural entrepreneur, Shannon has run creative businesses for most of her career. From starting a decorative home services company, Finishing Touches, to hosting and producing television and video series’ for national channels and international brands, and creating Plein Heir, a line of home furnishings and custom art commissions, Shannon exhibits her paintings locally. Her artwork and advice have been featured in Esquire, Elle Décor, Dr. Oz’s Good Life, and Sunset magazines. Her work has been commissioned by Carlos Santana’s Universal Tone Management and highlighted in a documentary for SKB (South Korean Broadcasting) about low-tech artists who thrive in high-tech environments.
As Business Development Director, Shannon works behind the scenes at stARTup to build relationships, develop operational systems, and create unique experiential programs.

Josefin Lundahl, Art Advisor & Curator
Josefin is a Swedish art historian with years of experience in the European and American art markets, art education, curation, advising and consulting. After receiving her MA in Art History, while working in the educational sector, she independently ran a gallery project with the mission of providing emerging artists a space to exhibit and start their careers. In stARTup, she found the same passion and vision of what art can and should be, and she is very excited to have joined the team.

Mica England, Content Curator / General Admin
Mica graduated from Academy of Art University in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. She was ranked in the top 5 among photography undergraduates and acted as BFA Photography Student Representative her last 3 semesters. Her work has been featured in several juried shows, including Academy of Art’s Spring Show in both Fine Art Book Arts and Photography. She is now focused on documenting her mother’s experiences with stage 4 breast cancer thru my mother is dying, an ongoing series that was selected for AAU’s coveted portfolio review. As well as The Recovery Archive, chronicling mental health, stigma, and recovery on Instagram. She is a founding member of temporary collective, a female photography collective.
