Jane Grimm

“The communal studio that I work in is closed with a new lock so I have no clay, no access to a kiln, no tools. In order to complete a promised commission, I am in the process of getting the needed equipment which I will set up in my garage.”

Available Works

My current work is on ongoing exploration of creating sculptures in clay.  My work is hand built, primarily using low fire white clay and glazes.  My primary focus is on form and what affect light and shadow have on those forms.  I began experimenting with the repetition of form, how change in size, shape or color influenced these forms.  I have subsequently minimalized the use of color so that most sculptures are various shades of white.  This puts the focus on the forms.  My latest works vary in size from large-scale installations to small freestanding sculptures.  Some artworks are ceramic paintings, ceramic forms attached to wood panels.  Others are ceramic sculptures installed directly on the wall.
